Night Rating

The Night Rating allows you to fly all single/multi-engine aircraft that are classified as non-high performance during night hours under Visual Flight Rules and Visual Meteorological Conditions.

A Private Pilot Licence and a Category 1 or 3 medical are the minimum requirements for Night Rating endorsement.
*A Night Rating is a requirement for the Commercial Pilot Program.



The candidate must hold a private pilot license


​A minimum of 15 hours of flight training including: 

  • 10 hours dual: 5 hour night training (2 of which are X-country) + 5-hour instrument training

  • 5 Hour solo at night

Although there is no practical written test, candidate must meet the skill requirements.


Training is at the student's pace and convenience. The course will take 1-week full time or 1 month part-time.

Cost Breakdown


The above course presumes that the student has 5 hours of instrument time from the private pilot license course.

The average individual may not complete the chosen license or rating in the minimum time required. Some factors that affect the cost of this course include an individual's ability as well as the frequency of the lessons.
